Water taxi

The design is the result of a design competition in 2001, facilitated by Hotel New York Hotel New York and won by Huibert Groenendijk.

The boats are intensely used during 18 hours a day, seven days a week!  The average water-taxi ride takes about 5 minutes. Fast embarking and high speed are necessary to outrun normal taxi car ride in order to make the business profitable.

The Rotterdam water-taxi has become the second icon of the city, next to the Erasmus bridge.

The styling refers to New York car taxis.
The 360º view in the taxi is spectacular and gives the feel of a mini cruise holiday.
As a matter of fact the boats are a mix between an efficient transport system and the relaxing atmosphere of the Hotel NY building and its era.
